Background

WGSN is the world's leading consumer trend forecaster, providing data and insights that help brands predict future design preferences.

In 2016, WGSN launched its Catwalks app — giving subscribers direct access to the latest fashion trends from major shows worldwide.

Approach

Working with WGSN's fashion editors, UX Researcher and development team, I designed an iOS app centred on speed and immediacy.

Photographers uploaded images to the DAM directly from show locations, enabling editors to publish content moments after the final look. The UI focused on latest shows, searchable by brand, season and location.

Outcome

The app gave WGSN subscribers fast, on-the-go access to global fashion show content.

With part of WGSN now available on iPhones, this strengthened the platform's position as the go-to resource for trend intelligence and enabling real-time sharing across buying and design teams.

When Fashion Week's season hits, immediate access to show imagery is vitally important to major brands. WGSN had long standing partnerships with Fashion Weeks photographers, enabing the company full access to every major fashion show event.

Many WGSN clients would be on work trips - so not neccessarily at their desk when the fashion show imagery was published on the main WGSN site. We therefore designed and build an app - ensuring that WGSN clients could have immediate access to the latest fashion photography.
