Background

WGSN's subscribers include some of the world's largest fashion brands, many with group licences.

Teams rely on WGSN's extensive image library for trend inspiration when developing future collections. We set out to enhance the experience — making collaboration and access the central drivers of an updated workspace.

Approach

I focused on improving workspace and folder sharing, enabling teams to collaborate, comment and share images directly within WGSN.

The new features allowed subscribers to save, upload, edit, organise and annotate content — integrating WGSN seamlessly into the daily design workflow.

Outcome

The updated Workspace transformed WGSN from a research tool into a collaborative hub.

Design and buying teams could now build shared mood boards and collections directly within the platform, reducing friction and keeping trend intelligence at the centre of their creative process.

Most of WGSN's 50 strong editorial team often go on work trips, capturing the latest trends from across the world. WGSN therefore has a rich chronology of emerging trends and inspiration from every corner of the globe - providing clients with a wealth of ideas and inspiration when designing their collections.

The UX researcher and I set about creating a new collaborative Image Workspace - allowing client teams to share, comment, save and download images in a way that suited their working methods.

Images could be easily discovered with an intuitive image filter. Specific searches could be saved, allowing clients and teams to gather new photos specific to their department needs.

Custom folders could be created, team members can comment and share photo's - with all photo's linking back to the original trend report or article - for extra context.
